A weekend in Chiemgau-Arena

Last week I had the chance to spend a couple days in the beautiful Chiemgau region.

Here are a couple ideas on what you shouldn’t miss out on while you’re there.

Number one: go for a walk with the Alpacas.
Yes you heard that right, they have alpacas in the south of Germany. And the best thing: you can go for a walk with them. These cute little fur balls are a little shy but super friendly. While we were there even a little kid was walking with them.
Besides their fun appearance with the smiley face, long neck and round head, they are just really chill animals that you will fall in love with instantly.

Number two: enjoy the beautiful scenery. Whatever the season: Chiemgau has got some very impressive mountains all around and thanks to their impressive gondola systems you can be on a mountain within minutes. Feel like being a little more active? hundreds of hiking trails are around, some are specifically beautiful during winter and well maintained.

Number three: Take a snow shoe hike.
Nothing beats the fresh air and pure silence while walking through knee deep snow. Thanks to the snow shoes you float on top of the fresh powder.
If it’s your first snow shoe hike I recommend the easy 6km walk with only 300m elevation gain near Reit im Winkl. You can also rent snow shoes down in the village.
